How long have you been a Mac User? I first encountered a Mac at work in 2002. We used an old dual-processor PowerMac to put together Printer Driver CDs. I hated every second of using it and found it immensely frustrating that it didn't like my old habits! Then came Mac OS X and I rather liked that. So much so in fact, that I chose to replace my aging home PC with a brand new Mac.

Do you own a Mac yourself? Not one but two! I bought a 17" G4 iMac (with SuperDrive) and a year later decided to go mobile by also getting a 12" G4 PowerBook. These, my little AirPort network and my broadband connection are the whole of my home setup.

Do you use Macs at work? Yes. Not as often as IÕd like to though. I am a localisation engineer for a major printer company. We translate all the drivers for home and office use into a variety of languages. We do some Mac work but not nearly enough to keep me entertained. I also managed to take (and pass!) my Apple Certification (ACTC) last year.

What do you primarily use your Mac for? For everything requiring a computer at home and more; normal internet surfing/email (from anywhere in the house or garden Š canÕt get bored with this Wi-Fi!), my family tree database (built using Heredis software) and my partnerÕs wine database! The iMac also holds my iTunes library which I then sync with my iPod - another essential accessory!

Have you produced any masterpieces that you're proud of? Unfortunately not! I am not the creative type one usually associates with the Mac platform - I canÕt draw or do anything remotely artistic!

What's your favourite piece of software? Probably the whole OS with the bundled software which includes the extended iLife family. I use Safari, Mail and iPhoto quite a lot.

Have you ever had a 'Mac moment'? Everyday, when coming home from my office PC and sitting down in front of the relaxing iMac, or taking the PowerBook to use while laying on the sofa.

Would or could you ever consider switching to Windoze? Nope! Never again. I love the no fuss "it just works" technology. The last think I want to do at home is system maintenance (reboot, reinstall, etc...) - a Mac it is from now on! Also, letÕs face it - the look of the machine is important too. Never again do I want a PC box in my home!

Anything you dislike about the Mac? The fact that it comes with the label that it is only for "arty types who do graphic design". Nothing is wrong with the Mac itself, apart from itÕs price tag which could do with coming down a bit!

What would you say to those considering buying their Mac? Have a look at one and have a play for a decent amount of time. It is easy to get frustrated because things are slightly different from what you're used to. Once you get beyond that it is all very natural (who needs a right mouse button?). The potential buyer also has to stop thinking that performance is linked solely to processor speed.

What's next in your shopping list? New earphones for my iPod! Hardware wise, I think my iMac will last longer than the PC I could have bought at the time, so it will be my main machine for quite a while. In the "fantasy" category, a PDA made by Apple would be pretty high on my list!
